About Coach Nick Aldiero

So who is this guy? Good question...but a better question is...how can I help your athlete?

There are many basketball coaches out there. Some great, some bad, some in the middle. The great coaches have these 5 pillars

  • The ability to connect
  • Fun & engaging
  • Detailed teaching
  • Structured learning environment
  • Constantly studying and learning

And they do them at a very high level. That's how I can help your athlete and what I have to offer.

I used to be an elementary school physical education & health teacher for 15 years in the Brick Twp School District before taking on my basketball skills training business full time.

Working with kids has always been something I love but I wanted to be in control of my own professional destiny. I resigned from teaching, bet on myself and the skills I developed each year while hiring a business mentor to learn new skills. It was a challenging decision but knew it was something I had to do.

Through having to manage 60-90 kids in the gym at a time I got really good at keeping kids engaged, focused and learning...while having fun. As time went on my ability to effectively communicate was improving.

My high school basketball career took place Howell High School where I was the team captain and made all district second team. From there I went on to play college basketball for two years at Brookdale Community College and two years at Montclair State University.

I've been the best player on a team and I've been the worst. I've been the leading scorer and I've been the guy that doesn't get in the game. Knowing both perspectives is definitely helpful when it comes to helping others.

What I'm most proud of is always being the hardest worker on any team I played on. I showed up early and left late.

But, two things I was really lacking...#1 A skill development coach (team coaches aren't skill development coaches) & #2 A Mental coach. Someone that could help me with the details of improving my individual game and how I can increase my confidence. Those are now two things I include in my programs.

The odd thing with basketball is...you can be an incredible player and a lousy coach. Or you could have gotten cut in high school and be an amazing coach.

Why? Because coaching comes down to those 5 pillars mentioned above. Coaching is about studying the game/skills and being able to effectively communicate it so you can help others. Playing is about what you can physically do.

After college I coached High School boys at Howell High School as an assistant from 2007-2013. From 2016 - 2019 I was the JV Coach at Brick Twp for the girls program.

I loved coaching teams but my real passion within the game of basketball is the skill development side. The more skills a player has the more he/she can help their team and have more confidence.

Below are some values I have for my program.

1) Time is important. We start on time, we end on time.

2) It's not about your mistake it's about your attitude after.

3) Take accountability for yourself and do not blame others.

4) Do not complain about the results you didn't get from the work you didn't put in.

5) Concentrate on being great at what you can control...which is your effort, attitude & focus.
