Nick Aldiero Basketball
3 on 3 Scrimmage League
This is the first time we are having a 3 on 3 event where there is no training or coaching involved. We are dedicating the full hour to 3 on 3 play. Teams will coach themselves & make their own substitutions. Something also new is that you enroll as a team & not an individual. Basically, this is a test run to see the interest level. If we are able to get more teams & divisions we will add refs & t-shirts. For now teams supply their own shirts & will be calling their own fouls. Read below to learn all the rules.
RULES
PARENTS/GUARDIANS
- No coaching. Cheering, however, is encouraged. Let the kids play and figure out some things on their own.
- Parents must sit in the designated spectator area.
- All players need completed liability waivers signed by a parent/guardian to participate.
- If short players, teams may bring subs. Subs are required to have a completed liability waiver.
- Help to keep the facility clean. Please pick up garbage and water bottles at the end of your games.
PLAYER CONDUCT
- No swearing, taunting or inappropriate verbal or physical behavior. Unsportsmanlike play may result in: 1) Warning; 2) Sitting out; or 3) ejection from the game or league.
- No hanging on the rim or net.
- Teams should wear their matching shirts or uniforms that they supply on their own (for now).
- Players will demonstrate good sportsmanship and shake hands with their opponents
GAME PLAY
- “Rock, paper, scissors” will determine initial possession of the ball.
-For now, players will call their own fouls unless Coach Aldiero see's something.
- Each team will play two 20 min running time games per week. There are no time-outs unless called by Coach Nick Aldiero for a short water break or due to lack of subs.
- Unlimited substitutions after made baskets or when the ball is not in play.
- Substitutions are made by players.
- A team may play with only two players (3 on 2).
- A jump ball should only lasts 2 seconds before both players stop pulling. Possession alternates. If you can't remember who's ball it was last time then a player can shoot for it from an agreed upon distance. If they make the shot it's their team's ball. If they miss, it's the other team's ball.
- Both feet and the ball must go outside of the 3-pt line on a change of possession.
– A ball that goes out of bounds is checked behind the arc.
– The half-court line is out of bounds.
– Following a made basket the ball can be brought back anywhere beyond the 3 point line.
– A defensive rebound must be taken past the arc (includes air balls). There are no “free backs”.
– No stalling. Keep playing. Score doesn't matter.
– No Free Throws for now. If a player calls a foul you check the ball at the top of the key.
